Hove car crash proves fatal for young driver

A young driver has died in hospital following a serious car accident on the A27, near Hove. His passenger escaped with minor personal injury, amazing witnesses.

The car, a purple BMW, was seen to roll over, mount a grass bank and crash into an adjacent field. The driver, 21, was trapped until the fire service could extricate him; he was then flown to hospital by helicopter, but did not survive his severe personal injuries.

Local press reported that the passenger was able to crawl free from the crashed car and comfort the driver until the emergency services arrived.

Witnesses claimed it was a miracle that anyone survived the smash at all. One said, " "As they left the road I thought they must be dead."

A Sussex police spokesperson appealed for witnesses to the car accident, which occurred at 8.15pm on Sunday, or to the moments before the crash, to contact the force on 0845 6070999.
