MIB compensates woman left paralysed in hit and run crash

A woman has been awarded car accident compensation after being left with severe personal injuries in a hit and run crash.

The woman had been waiting to be picked up from work when she was knocked over by a van that was reversing. She suffered life-changing injuries in the accident and has been left paralysed from the neck down and dependent on a wheelchair.

Due to the severity of her injuries she was forced to spend 14 months in hospital and requires around-the-clock care.

The van driver failed to appear at court to face charges for the accident, which took place in September 2010.

It has been reported that the woman has been awarded a multi-million pound settlement from the Motor Insurers' Bureau (MIB). The MIB compensates victims of uninsured and untraced drivers.

The car accident compensation will go towards specially adapted accommodation and will cover her extensive care costs.
