£3m compensation awarded to taxi crash victim

An accident victim will receive £3 million in road traffic accident compensation after she was knocked down and seriously injured by a taxi.

The 22-year-old woman from Teeside had been aged fourteen at the time of the taxi accident which caused her to suffer serious personal injuries.

London's High Court heard how the schoolgirl had been crossing the road in Guisborough, North Yorkshire, when the taxi ran her over.

She sustained a fractured skull and broken neck in the accident as well as a blood clot in the brain which later caused a major stroke.

So serious were her personal injuries, doctors treating the young girl feared that she would lose her life. However, the teenager managed to pull through but has unfortunately been left with severe disabilities and now requires round-the-clock care.

The teenager, with the help of her family, made a road traffic accident claim against the taxi driver's insurers. After a seven year court battle they were awarded £3 million which will be used to cover the young woman's extensive care costs which she will require for the rest of her life.
