Whiplash injury news
22/05/2009 London Borough car accident hazard is addressed
Residents from the London Borough of Waltham Forest have expressed satisfaction that their four-year campaign to reduce car accidents and persistent whiplash injury claims caused by a blackspot bollard has finally reaped dividends.
More than forty accidents in four years led the campaigners to call for extra safety measures around the site of the bollard. Now, six months after having their wishes granted, the campaigners say there has not been a single accident or a single whiplash injury in this period.
A local resident told the Waltham Forest Guardian, "The result has been a great success for us campaigners. We've been proved right.
"We are grateful to council for what they have done, using in house funds. The only sadness is that it took so long, and so much damage was done to so many vehicles in the meantime.
"Insurance claims mounted up, whiplash injuries and shock were suffered, and, as one car was overturned, there could have been a fatality. We are so grateful that is didn't happen."
