Toyota may face another claim
A woman from Southampton in the United States may seek whiplash compensation after sustaining the hyperflexion neck injury when her Toyota Prius suddenly accelerated while it was being parked in a multi-storey car park.
The incident follows a worldwide recall of Prius vehicles because of concerns over "potential floor mat to accelerator interference".
"We weren't having any problems, but they told us to bring it in and that's what we did ... and now this happens," said the injured woman of the recall.
She also spoke of the circumstances of the accident, which occurred just as she was parking her car in preparation for her weekly line dancing class. "I was almost to a complete stop and it took off. It just took off and it jumped up onto a divider in the parking lot," she said.
Now, after visiting her doctor and her chiropractor and being diagnosed with whiplash, it is entirely conceivable that she may launch a whiplash compensation claim.
In fact, she even indicated that she and her husband have already begun thinking about instructing a no win, no fee lawyer to commence whiplash compensation proceedings. "I mentioned to the inspector that we're looking into getting a lawyer. I just wanted them to know they're not going to get away with it," she said.
