A dramatic car chase in Sussex this weekend was concluded without a serious car accident or any personal injury more serious than whiplash at its conclusion.
Police in Littlehampton began a pursuit of a dark green Ford Mondeo after it refused to stop, and the chase took them towards Worthing and into Goring. The vehicle was finally halted when a police driver overtook the fleeing car, forcing it into the pavement. Reports are that three police cars were damaged in this pursuit.
Eyewitnesses said that the man in the Mondeo was pulled from the car following the collision and, although he struggled, was arrested.
The man was then taken into custody. Two police officers were treated in hospital for whiplashneck injury, but there was no statement regarding the driver's personal injury status.
