Third fatal car accident for Scottish friends
A circle of Scottish teenagers have been shocked by the third fatal car accident in two years to happen to one of their friends in the same stretch of road.
The car crashes each occurred on the A95 near Keith, most recently at the end of May this year. The social networking site Bebo hosts online tributes to the teenagers.
Previous car accidents, in June and November 2006, both involved friends of the driver in the most recent crash.
However, the road is known not only as an accident blackspot, but also as a site where drivers will drive dangerously - a local person was quoted as saying "Keith is well known for its boy racers. You would think one death would be enough to put them off, but they seem to think they're all invincible."
A local councilor put the opposing view, that said: "It is hard for anyone to lose somebody, but more so when the victim is only 17. The North-east has been the scene for a lot of young lives lost on the roads and I don't know the answer."
Grampian police are appealing for witnesses to the most recent car accident, which occurred on Friday, 30 May, at 11.35pm on the A95.
