Woman fatality in road traffic accident with school bus
The B4500 country road in Wales between Chirk and Pontfadog was closed for several hours after a road traffic accident occurred between a car and a school bus.
The woman driver died when her car collided with a school bus which was on its way to pick up school children at 7.40am for the beginning of the academic day. There were no children in the bus and the driver was not injured, although the vehicle was pushed off the side of the road in the accident.
The car was very badly damaged and, although fire fighters managed to cut the woman from her car and paramedics tried to save her life, she died at the scene.
A councillor for Chirk said, "Everybody in the community will have sympathy with the family for this tragic accident, especially at this time of the year".
The road traffic accident stopped some children from making it to school that day as the car wreck was left in the road while accident investigators worked at the scene.
