A 29-year-old father of six is making a work accident claim for compensation after being left paralysed when a 750kg metal bin fell from a forklift truck he was driving and crushed him.
He also suffered a broken pelvis, ribs and leg in the accident.
His work accident claim will surely benefit from the fact that a recent hearing at Berwick Magistrates Court found the cereals company he was working for guilty of contravening health and safety laws.
The Newcastle man said that regardless of how much money the court decide to award him in for accident claim it will not compensate him for his spinal injury, the loss of his limbs and his inability to enjoy full play with his children.
