Youth suffers head injury in motorbike crash

A motorbike crash with a taxi in Torquay resulted in the 18-year-old rider suffering a serious head injury and his pillion passenger also being treated in hospital.

After treatment at the scene, the unconscious youth was taken first to Torbay Hospital then Derriford Hospital, Plymouth, for specialist treatment.

The motorcycle's passenger suffered minor chest and shoulder injuries in the road traffic accident but the taxi driver was unhurt.

The side-on collision occurred at a junction between three roads and police closed the area for five hours while carrying out an investigation.

Police are appealing for witnesses of the collision between the blue Honda motorcycle and the cab to come forward with any information.

When inquiries are complete and liability for the motorbike crash has been established, it may be possible for one or more of the victims to claim personal injury compensation for their pain, suffering and loss of earnings from the person deemed at fault.
