Brain injury victim awarded compensation package for crash

A man from Wembley, London, has been awarded a multi-million pound payout in road traffic accident compensation after suffering severe brain injuries when he was knocked over by a car.

The 43-year-old had been crossing the road near his home in March 2007 when he was hit by a speeding driver. He suffered severe bleeding to the brain, a fractured spine, and various broken bones as a result of the accident.

Due to the extent of his injuries he has now been left severely brain damaged and confined to a wheelchair.

Following a five-year legal battle, the High Court has awarded the man with a multi-million pound compensation package, consisting of a £1.8m lump sum payment followed by £180,000 per year for the rest of his life.

The money will provide him with the necessary equipment to enable him to move back home with his family, and will cover his ongoing care costs.

The High Court judge approved the settlement for road traffic accident compensation with the insurers of the driver based on the complex nature of the man's injuries.
