Families who have suffered bereavements as a result of the Bukit Gantang bus crash - the worst road accident in Malaysia's history - have received news that they will be entitled to make road accident claims as the bus, contrary to initial reports, did in fact have the necessary road tax and insurance.
Twenty passengers are reported to have died in the crash which occurred when the bus ploughed into a ditch after the driver lost control while traveling along the North-South Expressway.
One significant factor in the road accident claims which will inevitably result from the tragedy is the fact that the driver of the bus had thirteen outstanding traffic summonses.
Bosses from the company who insure the bus operator said that they will payout road accident claim compensation to both those who suffered passenger injuries in the crash and the families of those who were killed.
The company responsible for operating the bus have had their license to operate suspended indefinitely with immediate effect.
