Crash causes Crewe midfielder to miss Liverpool cup tie
Up-and-coming Crewe Alexandria midfielder James Bailey suffered minor personal injury after being involved in a car accident while on his way to training.
His Renault Clio was written off in the car accident, in which the young footballer mounted the kerb before flying over a hedge.
The car accident will be a disappointment to the player, not least because he has only recently established himself in the Crewe team and was expected to figure in the club's next match, a Carling Cup tie against Premier League side Liverpool.
The player's manager commented, "We hope James has come out of it OK, that's the main thing. We'll make sure he's OK before we think about playing him."
As no other party was thought to be involved in the crash it is unlikely that any no win, no fee claim will arise from the incident.
