US bus crash victims seek $4.25m in compensation

Relatives of a woman who sustained fatal injuries in a bus accident in the US have launched a claim for $4.25m (around £2.68m) in road traffic accident compensation.

The mother-of-two had been taking a bus home in Toronto after she had just booked to take her driving test, when the vehicle swerved and crashed into the rear of a truck.

Unfortunately the 43-year-old woman sustained fatal injuries in the accident while 13 other passengers were also injured.

The family of the woman have launched a claim against the bus driver, who had been speeding and had been found to be under the influence of an illegal substance at the time of the crash. The claim is also against the bus company which employed the driver, and the driver of the truck that was involved.

It is believed that the truck driver had been on the phone at the time of the accident and could have prevented the crash from taking place.

The road traffic accident compensation claim is due to appear in court later this year.
