Injury claim newsDriver suffers whiplash injury in road collisionA pensioner has been rushed to hospital with broken ribs following a serious road accident in Cleveleys. The woman was involved in a car crash, which also involved another driver who was taken to hospital with a whiplash injury. The pensioner was driving her Nissan Micra when it collided with a Citroen AX on the junction of North Drive and Cumberland Avenue. She was rushed to Blackpool Victoria Hospital with suspected broken ribs. The driver of the Citroen escaped suffering serious personal injuries in the crash but was treated for a whiplash injury. Firefighter crew member, Andrew Bridge, said, "Because of the impact the lady was unable to open the door and she was also trapped physically. "She was trapped by her feet and we had to bend metal back to release her. "The paramedics suspected she may have had neck and back injuries so they asked us to remove the roof." The driver of the Citroen is expected to make a full recovery from his whiplash injury.
