The man had been walking along Shearwater Drive in Blackburn city when a silver-coloured Volkswagen Golf knocked him over in March 2007.
The car accident left the 26-year-old pedestrian with serious personal injuries, including four skull fractures and swelling to the brain. Despite the severity of his injuries the man has managed to regain his mobility, however, he still suffers from psychological issues as a result of the accident.
The man was awarded £300,000 in compensation after his family and the insurers of the driver came to an out-of-court agreement.
The High Court in London approved the car accident compensation and the money is expected to be used to help improve the victim's living conditions at the house he shares with his father. It will also be used to help the man achieve a more independent life.
