A car crash on the A1 in Gateshead has left 13 people with minor injuries and one teenager with serious injuries.

The eight car pile-up which happened between the Coalhouse Roundabout and the Angel of the North caused the road to be closed for five hours.

The cause of the car accident has not yet been reported and Northumbria Police are urging any witnesses to contact them.

Depending on the cause of the accident, victims involved in the car crash may be able to make a compensation claim for the injuries they sustained in the traffic collision.
