Fine and regret for car crash flasher

An 18-year-old woman who stood in the middle of the road and flashed her breasts at passing vehicles has spoken regretfully of the incident after it resulted in a car crash in which she suffered personal injury.

Police described the woman, who lives in the city of Wellington, as "extremely lucky" not to have suffered more serious car crash injuries.

She was fined the equivalent of £90 by a district court. The prosecuting solicitor said that although the driver involved could have been paying more attention, it was fair to say that he had been "distracted".

The court heard how the woman "rolled over the bonnet, cracking the windscreen" after being hit by the stunned motorist.

Speaking after the prosecution, the 18-year-old offered some sage advice to all would-be flashers. "I was stupid... Don't get drunk and stand in the middle of the road and flash anyone 'cause it hurts when you get hit," she said.

Owing to her role in causing the car crash, it is highly unlike that the woman will be able to make any no win, no fee claim for injury compensation.
