Calls for traffic calming measures in Edinburgh have been made after three people may make car crashcompensation claims for an accident which left them with spinal injuries in Gilmerton Station Road.
Councillor Tom Buchanan said he would be talking to police about improving traffic safety after the car the passengers were travelling in ended up 30 metres away in a field.
Three people were thrown from the vehicle in the car accident, resulting in them suffering serious spinal injuries.
All five people in the car were injured in the crash which happened at about 11:30pm on Sunday.
Lothian and Borders Police said the female driver, who is 26, has been charged with dangerous driving and driving without a licence, while two passengers have been charged with unspecified offences under the Road Traffic Act.
Mr Buchanan, who represents Liberton/Gilmerton, said: "This just underlies the need for traffic-calming measures on this road."
It is hoped that the extra measures will help prevent future vehicle accident claims for car crashes along the Gilmerton Station Road.
