Cyclist to receive spinal injury damages
A cyclist who suffered serious spinal injuries in a 2005 road accident which left him tetraplegic has been told he will receive car crash compensation.
Negotiations between the claimant's personal injury solicitors and representatives of the Motor Insurers Bureau, the industry body responsible for compensating the victims of uninsured drivers, mean that the way is now clear for the man to receive around £4 million car crash compensation.
The claimant had been fit and active before the accident but now has serious disabilities and will need 24-hour care for the remainder of his life. "He was almost as badly injured as it is possible to imagine," said his solicitor.
Car crash compensation was awarded on the basis of 90 percent liability.
