Goodwood race claim unsuccessful
The car crash claim of a man from Derbyshire who suffered injuries while participating in a race at Goodwood has proved unsuccessful.
The 65-year-old suffered serious injuries after his vintage Maserati careered out of control during a 2005 event.
His personal injury solicitor had hoped to prove that the accident was attributable to the distraction provided by a nearby film camera. It was alleged that the organisers of the event had been negligent in placing it there.
However, the judge hearing the car crash claim disagreed, saying that the claimant was "largely to blame for his own misfortune".
The seasoned Goodwood campaigner was hoping his car crash claim would net him a six-figure sum of personal injury compensation after being hospitalised with numerous injuries including bruising, broken bones and ligament damage.
