02/06/2009 Critical injury claim settled
A 74-year-old man who suffered critical personal injury after being mown down by a passing car has been awarded an undisclosed settlement of car accident compensation.
The successful car accident compensation claimant had to be airlifted to West Suffolk Hospital following the incident. Once there he spent 10 days in intensive care, receiving treatment to head, leg and internal injuries.
The no win, no fee solicitor who represented the man's claim described the assistance of the air ambulance as "vital", saying that it "made the difference" in ensuring the claimant did not lose his life.
He also said that his client had "made a remarkable recovery from his extensive injuries".
The claimant himself was also keen to express his gratitude to the air ambulance crew, saying, "My wife and I are extremely grateful for the swift attention I received from the air ambulance. Without them I might well have died. "We're extremely fortunate in having the service in this area and I can never thank them enough for what they did for me."
It is understood that the car accident compensation settlement was reached in confidence following negotiations between the claimant's legal team and the liable motor insurer.
