Vehicle accident injuries in small cars

While it may be cheaper to get insurance for a small sized car, new research reveals that car accident claims and personal injury payouts for vehicles in the smallest classes are significantly higher than for their larger sized counterparts.

The US Insurance Institute Highway Safety has produced statistics which reveal insurance loss data for vehicles by size and compensation payments for small cars show a trend of higher damages amounts.

Three of the worst models involved in car accidents where personal injury occurred were the Hyundai Accent, Kia Rio, and the Toyota Yaris.

Expensive and powerful cars, such as sports models and SUVs also have high collision losses, but this is compounded by costly repair fees and, in many cases, the speeds at which the sportier models are often driven at.

Many motorists, especially new and inexperienced drivers, are encouraged to choose small cars in order to keep their insurance costs down, however personal injury solicitors urge consumers to think seriously about the safety aspects of any potential vehicle purchase, so as to hopefully prevent a future high-value car accident claim for personal injuries.
