Police say that the value of seatbelts in saving lives is never better demonstrated that in potentially fatal car accidents where seatbelt-wearing passengers live to pass on the message.
Once such car accident occurred on the A6 in Buxton last week when a Peugeot collided with a Lexus. The crash closed the road and resulted in emergency services being called out to free the Lexus driver from the wreckage of his vehicle.
A spokesperson from safety organisation Buxton Watch commented, "I know a lot of young people have gone off wearing seatbelts. For the young lad in the Peugeot the seatbelt definitely saved his life."
Representatives from local police said that the occupants of the vehicles involved in the car accident were taken to hospital for treatment to their respective personal injuries. It is not known if either injured party will be making a no win, no fee car crash claim.
