Burglar is jailed for causing road traffic accident
A burglar has been arrested after being found guilty of causing a road traffic accident which left one man dead and two others with a number of severe personal injuries.
The victims of the car crash had been driving home in a Fiat Qubo when they were involved in a collision with the burglar who had driven his Subaru Impreza through a red light after fleeing the scene of a crime.
The crash victims were all rushed to hospital where the driver of the Fiat died as a result of the severe injuries he sustained in the accident.
The driver of the Subaru later appeared at Wolverhampton Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving and received an indeterminate sentence for a minimum of four and a half years.
One of the other victims, a 44-year-old man from the West Midlands, suffered a fractured neck and head injuries and has now launched a road traffic accidentcompensation claim against the burglar.
