Woman awarded £18k in compensation for Edinburgh car accident

A beauty queen has received £18,000 in car accident compensation after a car crash left her with personal injuries.

The woman had been returning home after working at a drinks promotion event in Edinburgh when the car accident took place in April 2009.

As she travelled in her Peugeot she was undertaken by another vehicle which then tried to pull out in front of her to avoid a parked car, causing the accident.

The woman went home immediately after the accident, but phoned an NHS helpline and was told to visit her doctor who diagnosed her with chronic lower back pain. She was then referred to a physiotherapist.

She later launched a claim for compensation against the driver of the other vehicle. Although the insurers admitted liability, both sides struggled to agree on the amount of damages which should be awarded.

Following a court hearing, the woman has now been award £18,000 in car accident compensation.
