Woman's car accident compensation for ambulance collision
A horrific vehicle crash involving an ambulance car on an emergency call, which left a woman badly injured, has resulted in car accident compensation of £6,000 being paid to her.
Middlesborough County Court, which heard the victim's claim was told that the woman was on her way to pick up her daughter from work and waiting to turn right when her car was hit from behind by the Ford Mondeo ambulance. It was being driven at approximately 50 miles per hour..
The crash in March 2010 at Kirkleatham near Redcar, left her with back injuries as well as psychological trauma. The ambulance driver has since retired.
The court decided the ambulance driver was 100% at fault in the collision because he made incorrect assumptions about the victim's possible actions and she had not had time to avoid his vehicle.
As the driver's former employer, North East Ambulance Service Trust (NEAS) was ordered to pay the car accident compensation plus costs of £12,500.
