Motorcycle crash victim receives tributes in local press

Following the death of an ambulance volunteer on Saturday in a Blackpool motorcycle crash, tributes have been appearing in the local papers.

A spokesperson for his family said, "This is a devastating loss of a man who loved life and lived for his family and loved cruising on his motorbike with his wife for more than 46 years.

"Sleep tight dad you will be truly missed by us all. We can't start to imagine life without you."

A representative of the ambulance service added that the man had "worked as a volunteer for eight years and he will be sorely missed by his friends, colleagues and by the many patients who came to rely on his unwavering support ."

The motorcycle accident occurred at a junction on the South Shore, where the biker and a bus collided at 7:40am. Aside from the driver, there was one passenger on the bus; both were shaken but suffered no personal injury. The motorcyclist was rushed to hospital but died later.

Following the motorcycle crash, the road was closed for three hours. Police are appealing for witnesses to call on 01253 293933.
