Scottish motorbike crash pair sentenced to jail

Two Scottish teenagers have been jailed over dangerous riding that led to a motorcycle accident earlier this year.

At the Aberdeen trial, they were found guilty of breaking the law by driving at excessive speeds, mounting footpaths, performing illegal manoeuvres including a "wheelie", driving through a no-entry sign and several red-light traffic junctions, and kicking pedestrians while driving erratically through city-centre streets.

When they were involved in a crash with a motor vehicle, it caused the motorcycle to mount a footpath and hit pedestrians, causing personal injury.

Both were sent to prison over the offences. The rider in the motorbike crash admitted his guilt and received a two-year sentence, to be followed by a supervision order; the pillion passenger went to trial, and received a three-year sentence, including six months for breaking a probation order.

Both also received a two-year driving ban over their part in the motorcycle accident.
