The 2006 International Motorcycle and Scooter Show has begun at Birmingham's NEC Arena and tens of thousands of bike fans from all over the world are expected to flock through the gates to see what's on offer.

The popular show was kicked off with guest appearances from top funnyman Alan Davies and superbike hero James Toseland, and several more star names are expected to pop in before the show's conclusion on November 4th.

Also appearing on the opening day were Rizla Suzuki team mates Chris Walker and Kal Crutchlow who brought along the GSX-R1000s they'll be riding next season to wow the crowds.

In addition to famous faces from the motorbike world, the show also features numerous trade stands, interactive features for the kids and an impressive stunt show in the specially designed Thunderdome.

Pleased with the crowd's feedback on the opening day, Finlay McAllan from MCI Exhibitions told reporters, "The show got off to a fantastic start for 2006 with a number of impressive bike launches and rider appearances.

"With features including the Harley-Davidson V-Rod experience, the Bike Ride Out, the Off-Road Experience and the Thunderdome Games Arena which looks like it will be extremely popular, we are looking forward to a very successful ten days."
