Evel Knievel hospitalised

It has been revealed that motorcycle stunt legend Evel Knievel has suffered another stroke.

The 68-year-old, famous for his daredevil jumps and the enormous number of broken bones and personal injuries that he suffered in resultant motorcycle accidents, is a cult figure around the world and has also recently become a born-again Christian.

The stunt legend's body has been weakened by not only multiple motorbike accidents but also by pulmonary fibrosis and a 1999 liver replacement.

His son, Robert Knievel, told journalists about the stroke, saying, "My dad's not doing good. He just had another stroke and he's in hospital."

He also added, "He's had a hip replacement and 15 or 17 major operations where they cut him open to put steel in him or take it out of him again."

With all the motorcycle accidents that Evel Knievel's been involved in, it really is a surprise that he's alive at all.

The great man himself seems to recognise this and recently told a journalist, "I knew Elvis. I knew Frank Sinatra, I used to drink with Lee Marvin.

"If you had been asked back then to place your money on who would still be alive today, it wouldn't be the stuntman you put your money on, would it? You wouldn't have put your money on me."
