Man's life saved by motorcycle crash

After being involved in a serious motorcycle crash in Littlehampton, a Worthing man's trip to hospital also revealed a 95% blocked artery. The doctors' prompt treatment of this is likely to have saved his life.

The personal injury received by the biker is very serious, requiring amputation of one leg, and potentially the other if the bones do not heal appropriately around a titanium rod. He has also received a broken hip and torn shoulder muscles. His bike has been written off, and he awaits a payment from his insurance company.

The rider said "I remember young ladies holding my head while I was lying down on the pavement.

"They were talking to me to try and keep me awake. I remember hearing helicopter blades and then the next thing I remember is waking up in hospital on the Monday morning."

Although three pedestrians were injured in the road traffic accident, the driver of the car that was also involved was unharmed. He is to stand trial for dangerous driving, grievous bodily harm and actual bodily harm. A personal injury compensation claim may follow from the motorcycle crash victims.
