Wheelie killer sent down

A man who caused a fatal motorcycle accident after pulling a wheelie at traffic lights has been jailed for two years.

The 25-year-old Hounslow resident collided with a car whilst carrying out the dangerous manoeuvre and subsequently killed the driver, a father-of-two who had only just dropped his children off at a nearby school.

His bike was unroadworthy, uninsured and untaxed when it was involved in the tragic motorbike accident and the smash was witnessed by several groups of children who were walking to school at the time.

The rider suffered serious personal injuries in the collision and was rushed to hospital. He was diagnosed with severe head injuries but discharged himself shortly afterwards and is said to still be receiving treatment.

A police officer who investigated the motorcycle accident spoke to the media, saying, "It is tragic that his irresponsible actions have caused the death of a family man, leaving a wife and two young girls to grow up without a father.

"[He] was riding a motorcycle that had numerous defects. The front tyre was bald, the rear brake totally inoperative, the right foot-peg was missing and the rear lights were not connected.

"In addition, he was uninsured and had never passed a bike test. Despite that, he rode this powerful machine, a Suzuki GSXR-750, on a daily basis."

It is unknown if the wife of the deceased car driver is planning to make a personal injury compensation claim against the man who caused the motorcycle accident.
