It is understood that the claimant's friend, who was in control of the motorbike at the time of the crash, has been named as the defendant in the motorcycle accident claim writ.
Local press report that the claimant is seeking damages for his personal injuries, which included a fractured arm, broken shoulder and bodily lacerations. He is also seeking to be compensated for loss of earnings and ongoing medical expenses.
While not naming a specific amount, the writ estimates the 28-year-old's motorcycle accident claim to be worth at least a five-figure sum.
Earlier media coverage of the rider's prosecution for dangerous driving described both men as "lucky to escape more serious injuries" after the motorcycle mounted a roundabout and collided with a low brick wall.
