The question of whether a faulty speed-bump was involved in a fatal motorcycle accident in Swansea is to be investigated.
The road traffic accident occurred in July this year, and police have given no explanation as yet for what caused the 55-year old biker to crash into a parked Ford Mondeo. The man received serious personal injury, dying a fortnight later in hospital.
Several residents certainly believe that the traffic calming measures are to blame. However, a local councillor argued that the 'sleeping policeman' had been a successful measure, saying, "Since putting the bumps there, the number of accidents has reduced considerably."
Police and structural engineers are preparing a report to an inquest that is being held into this motorcycle accident. A police spokesperson confirmed that crash inquiries are ongoing.
