Man receives £1m in motorcycle crash compensation

A Black Country man who received serious personal injury in a 2005 motorbike crash has been awarded more than £1million in a successful compensation claim.

The man was riding a 1200cc Harley Davidson when the collision, with a 600cc Suzuki, occurred on a bend. The Harley rider has been described as suffering "massive orthopaedic injury", facial wounds and personal injury to his left eye so severe that it had to be removed. Neither rider has retained a memory of the motorcycle accident.

A three-day hearing led the judge to establish that the fault in the motorbike crash lay with the Suzuki rider, and compensation was awarded to the Harley rider. The amount awarded has not been released, but the man's personal injury lawyer confirmed that it would be a seven-figure sum.
