Motorbike accident leaves boy critical, car driver in shock

A motorbike accident in a residential Ipswich street this weekend leaves a teenage boy in critical condition in hospital and a car driver in shock.

The motorcyclist was riding an off-road bike when a crash occurred with a Vauxhall Corsa near a junction. Emergency services representatives say that the bike was not designed for use on the road.

The personal injury that the biker, who is believed to be local, received meant that he was taken to Ipswich Hospital, and later - as the extent of the motorcycle injury became clearer - to Addenbrooke's.

One neighbour of the Corsa driver are quoted as saying that, "I was in my driveway when the accident happened but I didn't see it.

"I went over to help. The guy on the motorbike was lying on the floor and seemed really dazed and out of it.

"I was more worried about my neighbour in the car because he was panicking and was really shocked.

"The police were here within seconds and then the ambulance came."

Another said that, following the motorcycle crash, the driver was "really shaken up. He cannot take it in and is in shock still."

Police spent three hours examining the smash scene, and invite further witnesses to the motorbike accident to call 01473 613500.
