The widow of a motorcyclist who died in a road accident is seeking £500,000 in motorbike accident compensation. The rider suffered fatal injuries after swerving into the path of an oncoming car in order to avoid colliding with a skateboarder who had walked onto the road to pick up his stray skateboard.
Now the widow, who lost her 47-year-old husband, is seeking to find the household insurers of the boy's family liable for the motorbike accident compensation claim.
It is understood to be the first recorded instance of a skateboard-related accident causing another road user's death.
The personal injury lawyer representing the widow's motorbike accident compensation claim commented on the writ he has served to the insurers: "It is put to them on the same financial footing as if [the deceased rider] had not died."
