Sheep collision causes serious personal injury

A Scottish man has suffered serious injuries in a motorbike accident after colliding with an errant sheep.

The 47-year-old was riding his bike near Cuminestown when he drove into a sheep that had strayed from a nearby field.

Shortly after the motorbike accident the man's Honda Fireblade motorcycle exploded into flames. Police attended the scene, while the rider was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, where he is reported to be in a serious but stable condition.

A police spokesperson commented, "The motorcyclist suffered serious injuries and his bike caught fire and was destroyed.

"The road surface was damaged by the fire and the stretch had to be closed for a couple of hours while the road was repaired and the bike was taken away."

Police have appealed for anyone who witnesses the crash to call 0845 600 5700.

It is not known whether the 47-year-old will seek to make a no win, no fee compensation claim for the injuries he sustained in the motorcycle accident.
