Teen's mini-motorbike accident ends in tragedy

A teenager has been rushed to hospital with life-threatening personal injuries after being involved in a mini-motorbike accident with a car.

The 17-year-old was a passenger on the motorcycle when it collided with a Mercedes in Prestwich near Manchester and is reported to have suffered a broken back, head injuries and a broken arm.

It is believed that the bike, which was being operated by an 18-year-old, was fleeing from motorcycle police officers at the time of the road traffic accident. The 18-year-old received minor personal injuries in the smash and was subsequently arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

The badly injured teenager was removed from the wreckage of the motorbike accident and was rushed to Hope Hospital where his condition is described as critical.

It is not yet known if the youngster or his family will be making a personal injury compensation claim following the mini-motorcycle accident.
