Motorcycle accident news - 02/03/2007Trainspotting star breaks leg in road smashActor Ewan McGregor has broken his leg in a motorcycle accident, The Sunday Mail has revealed. According to online reports, the popular Scot suffered personal injuries when he came off his bike in London but exact details of the motorcycle accident are unknown. Talking to an Edinburgh radio station, the 35-year-old said, "I just had a freak accident on my bike and a little fall off. "It hasn't put me off bikes at all. If you are going to ride bikes, you are going to have accidents from time to time. So it was unfortunate." It is not the first time the Trainspotting and Moulin Rouge star has taken a tumble from the saddle and seven years ago he was lucky to escape relatively unscathed after being involved in a motorbike accident near Inverness. The popular actor is well-known as a bike fanatic and has a stable of eight machines, including his pride and joy, a 750cc MV Augusta, and during filming of Star Wars [italics] in Australia he was banned from riding by movie bosses for fear that he might injure himself. McGregor's road accident is somewhat bad timing as the father of three is due to set out on a long distance summer ride from John O'Groats in the far north of Scotland to Cape Town on the southern tip of Africa. Despite the personal injuries suffered in his recent motorcycle accident, the actor is vowing to be fit enough to undertake the gruelling journey, which is being billed as a follow-up to his highly successful Long Way Round [italics] trip in 2004.
