Motorcycle newsMonkey's motorbike sold at auctionA motorbike formerly ridden by a popular Australian chimpanzee has been sold at auction Down Under for more than £1,000. The 100cc machine was used by Mr Muggs, the country's most famous performing chimp, during live performances in the 1960s and came up for sale at Sydney's distinguished Bonhams and Goodman auction house. Mr Muggs was especially revered by the Aussies because, not only could the hairy primate use a motorcycle, but he was also known for his ability to ride a meter-high unicycle, smoke cigarettes and mime to pop songs whilst simultaneously strumming a ukulele. It seems that bike-loving monkeys are a regular feature here on the newsreel of BP365, the motorbike accident experts, and back in July we were saddened to report the tragic tale of a Russian circus monkey who was left devastated by the theft of his own specialised bike. Despite extensive research, BP365 staff have been unable to discover if the bike was ever returned to its grieving owner. For more information about famous monkeys, go to www.ape-o-naut.org. |
