Motorcycle news - Fatal motorbike accident results in bus being torched

Angry passers-by in India torched a bus and sent the driver fleeing in panic after he knocked down and killed a motorcyclist.

The motorbike accident occurred on the busy streets of Bangalore and the 45-year-old rider, a Mr Timmaraju, died instantly.

The bus driver fled the scene before furious eyewitnesses could apprehend him and passengers were then ordered by the mob to disembark the bus. The enraged crowd then smashed the windows with rocks and set alight to the stricken bus, gutting it before emergency services could arrive.

A local resident described the reasons for the destruction of the bus, saying, "The private buses going on this road are driven recklessly. Pedestrians and motorcyclists have become the victims of accidents.

"Despite repeated pleas, no steps have been taken by the authorities concerned to check the speed of vehicles on this stretch."

No arrests were reported following the incident.
