Audioslave singer lucky to escape injury in motorbike accident

Casino Royale, the latest James Bond film, opens in UK cinemas in less than two weeks but the man who performs the title track is thanking his lucky stars he'll be around to see it after being involved in a motorbike accident in the US.

Chris Cornell, frontman of US rock band Audioslave, was reportedly hit by a truck whilst riding through Los Angeles last Tuesday but miraculously escaped with only cuts and bruises. His $50,000 Exile Chopper came off slightly worse, however, and had to be carted off to the scrapyard.

A spokesman for the musician told journalists, "Chris escaped with very little injury considering the severity of the accident.

"Later that day he returned to the studio to record his new solo album."

42-year-old Cornell co-wrote and sings Casino Royale's title track You Know My Name and the film hits UK screens on November 16th.
