Motorcycling newsCalifornian rockets to two-wheel gloryUS dirt track rider Chris Carr has smashed the two-wheel land speed record after clocking up a whopping 354mph at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. The 39-year-old Californian re-wrote the record books at the International Motorcycle Speed Trials event last weekend, racing to glory in his Dennis Manning-designed BUB Streamliner. The craft, which looks more like a rocket than a motorbike, completed two passes in the required two hours to record an average speed of 346mph, much to the delight of the enthralled spectators. Chris Carr's team manager was delighted at the new record, telling journalists, "We were standing there watching Chris go by and just couldn't believe it. "Chris came out and just smoked everybody."
