Motorbike news - Motorcycle thief feels wrath of Kenyan vigilantes

An attempted motorcycle theft in Kenya resulted in a man being wrapped in newspapers and set alight, online news agencies have reported.

It is believed that the crook stabbed the owner of a motorbike in the city of Nairobi before attempting to flee on the vehicle.

Passers-by spotted the thief, however, and overpowered him before beating him with sticks and setting him on fire.

Eyewitness Joseph Wambua described the incident to reporters, saying, "He stabbed the man and the public came. The people beat him and started burning him with newspapers."

Hundreds of people are said to gathered to watch the spectacle and traffic came to halt as the man writhed in agony in the middle of the road.

Police eventually arrived on the scene to take the injured motorcycle thief was taken away but local reports stated that he was already close to death.
