Motorbike news - Fighter plane left trailing by Ducati
Who needs an RAF Tornado? Not me. And not you either if you've got a Ducati 999R.
A rider in Scotland has proved that today's superbikes are more than a match for our Air Force's best, using his bike to out-accelerate a Tornado from a standing start and managing to stay way ahead until the plane had left the ground.
Martin Rees took part in the bizarre race on a Ducati 999R Xerox replica in celebration of 43 Fighter Squadron's 90th anniversary. And just to make sure the victory wasn't a one off, another Tornado took on the challenge but was also soundly beaten.
Other races on the schedule at the squadron's base in Leuchars saw a Tornado against an Aston Martin Vanquish S and a Ferrari 360 Modena. Both cars were defeated, just going to show that, as we already know, motorbikes are best.
