A father and son were lucky to escape with their lives after a horrific motorcycle accident in North Yorkshire.
58-year-old John Peek and his son Phillip, 22, received serious personal injuries when their classic motorbike collided head-on with a Land Rover on a quiet road near Masham.
Paramedics hurried to the scene and the pair were rushed to the local Friargate Hospital. Doctors discovered that the younger man, who was riding pillion at the time of the incident, was suffering from a fractured knee, whilst his father smashed nearly every bone in his body.
John's wife, Leslie, said, "I don't think there's many bones that he hasn't broken.
"He's shattered his pelvis, broken his right hip, broken both knees, broken both ankles, broken his right reel, and his left wrist is shattered in four or five places. We think he's broken his nose as well."
The couple's daughter added, "My dad has got to have an operation on practically everything he's broken. It could take a year to get him back to normal."
North Yorkshire Police are appealing for anybody who saw the motorcycle accident at 11.30am on Sunday 9th April to get in contact.
